Our master's program in Higher Education Leadership (HELEAD) provides graduate-level training that will prepare you for a wide array of opportunities in higher education, including athletic administration, student affairs, and academic support. Through hands-on experiences, collaborative projects, and expert instruction, you'll develop the expertise to support students, work with academic units, lead student affairs initiatives, and contribute to the success of your institution.

MSE - Higher Education Leadership

The MSE in Higher Education Leadership is a 30-credit program. This program begins in the Fall semester only and is cohort based for those who wish to enroll full time. If you prefer to enroll part time, that is also a possibility. Full-time students can finish in as little as three semesters.

To qualify for admission you must meet graduate admission criteria.

The application deadline for the MSE in Higher Education Leadership program is the last week in August. The next application cycle opens on March 16th. All deadlines are subject to change without notice. Accurate and up-to-date admission deadlines can be found on the graduate admission deadlines website.

If you do not meet the graduate admission criteria, please email us to determine if you could be admitted on a contingent basis.

International students must meet additional criteria and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Contact us for information and assistance.

Additional requirements for admission to the MSE Higher Education program:

  • Upload a resume documenting your professional experience.
  • Upload a personal statement (2-3 pages) describing the reason behind your decision to pursue this degree, your short- and long-term career goals, and the value you believe you will add to the learning experience of your fellow students.
  • Provide contact information (name, organization, position/title, relationship, telephone and email address) for two (2) individuals that are knowledgeable about your potential to do graduate-level coursework.

All requirements can be submitted during the application process.

Financial aid

Students completing a degree program may be eligible for financial aid in the form of grants, loans, scholarships, or employment. All of these make up a “Financial Aid Package” and may be offered singly or in various combinations. Since funds are limited, priority for aid is based on financial need and how promptly applications are filed.
